Cheryl has specialized in pelvic health physical therapy for decades and takes pleasure in being able to make such large impacts on the lives of her patients.

Early in her career she experienced 2 difficult childbirths which would have been eased with access to pelvic health PT, which did not exist at the time in Nebraska. After many of her patients reporting concerns of bladder leakage, pelvic pain, constipation and prenatal pain, she decided she needed to learn more about helping this population. This led to her starting her journey as one of the pioneers of the specialty of pelvic health in physical therapy.

She joined together with a small band of PTs across the country and assisted with growth of the Section of Womens Health of the APTA (American Physical Therapy Association) and served on their board for over at decade, eventually able to lobby for creation of a Board Certification for Pelvic Health. She sat for one of the first tests and has been Board Certified in Pelvic Health (PWCS) since its inception. Through her services she helped develop and provide educational seminars for other PTs, promote pelvic health to consumers, and was awarded the National Continence Care Champion from the National Association for Continence. She has also always been active in the NE Chapter of APTA, including being an elected Delegate for over 8 years and awarded its most prestigious honor, The Mary Ellen Sackseder Award. She was invited to serve on numerous APTA committees and was asked to serve as Chair to the committee on Public Relations on a national level. She has published research in national journals, contributed to writing medical textbooks, and has always been passionate about promoting her profession.

Cheryl has been practicing for 40 years after graduating from University of TX Health Science program and receiving her Doctorate degree from Des Moines University, Iowa, and has owned private clinics throughout that time. She founded Midwest Physical Therapy in 2012 and has proudly watched it grow based on customer satisfaction. The clinic has been based on treating the whole person and providing one on one care in addition to participating in community service projects.

Outside the clinic, she loves to travel with her husband and 2 grown children and daughter in law; camping, mountain biking and sailing. She also loves gardening and tries to grow most of her diet.
